Biography[]
Background[]
Fiona is a strong single mother to two kids, and the sister of Thony 's husband Marco De La Rosa. Before the start of the series, she has welcomed Thony and Luca to live with her and her children. She scrapes by as a cleaning lady while keeping secrets from her kids as Thony delves into the world of crime and Fiona struggles to hide her undocumented immigrant status.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
Throughout most of season 1, Fiona works under the table jobs as a cleaning lady, since she is undocumented, a secret she wishes to keep from her children. When not working, she looks after her nephew and cares for her own two older children. She confesses to her son Chris that they are both undocumented (unlike his half-sister who was born in the US and whose father is American) but promises him she will find a way to get them citizenship. Fiona also lies and tells Chris she cannot recall who his father is. She consults an immigration lawyer, but the cost is too high. Fiona is impulsive enough in the early season to take a job as a cocktail waitress. She ends up agreeing to deal ecstasy under the table for her boss. After some persuasion, she realizes the waitressing job could potentially be dangerous and quits.
Later in the season, Fiona resorts to extreme measures to try and manipulate a car salesman into donating his kidney to her nephew Luca. She is also caught in a raid, detained by immigration, and nearly deported, but Thony rescues her from this fate with a combination of assistance from her new boss and the FBI. Toward the end of the season, Fiona works to help Thony with a building she has purchased and intends to set up as a clinic for undocumented immigrants.
Season 2[]
As season 2 begins, Fiona and her children assist Thony in looking for Luca, who has been kidnapped by Marco. Upon confronting him at the hotel where he is holding Luca, Marco struggles with Fiona, and Chris intervenes on her behalf. Fiona watches her son accidentally kill her brother, and then urges him to flee, fearing he'll be deported.
